Rivers of Nihil took over Tavastia in Helsinki a couple of months ago and absolutely blew our minds at the end of our weekend back then with the help of Cynic, Beyond Creation and Dååth!
Opeth released an absolutely brilliant new album with ‘The Last Will And Testament’ last year, and now they brought it to the stage all over Europe. And we in Helsinki were honored to be the first stop of the tour back in February, getting a first taste of their new work live. And with Grand Magus to warm us up, this was a brilliant night for the (metal) music lovers among us! An event by Fullsteam Agency

Finland’s band of misfits King Satan released their latest album ‘The Devil’s Evangelion’ via Noble Demon, and such an epic album deserves a proper release tour of course. With them, they brought their friends of the dark elektro duo Miseria Ultima to open the night, and doomy outfit The Abbey as direct support at the Helsinki stop. An excellent night of great music and friends, and with all bands in absolute top form!
We caught Vola before on their European tour when they visited Finland. But on this night we managed to see them again, this time in Eindhoven, Netherlands. And with their special guest Charlotte Wessels playing somewhat of a home show, the night turned into an unforgettable one for sure!
On the back of the release of their latest album ‘Friend of a Phantom’, VOLA embarked on an extensive European tour and dropped by Vanha Ylioppilastalo in Helsinki, Finland in November to repeat the amazing performance they had at Tuska this past summer! Vola’s ‘Friend of a Phantom’ tour passed through Finland last week and hit Tampere’s Pakkahuone on Tuesday November 5th. It was a filled with emotion, not only from Vola, but also the support acts Feather Mountain and Charlotte Wessels. Rivers Of Nihil brought quite the intensity to Europe earlier this year with their “Aggressive Progressive Tour’, including Cynic, Beyond Creation and Dååth. We caught their show at the legendary Tavastia venue in Helsinki, Finland and saw it was good! Looking forward to seeing Rivers Of Nihil again this summer during the Europe festival season with shows at Brutal Assault, Alcatraz and more!
With Turmion Kätilöt you always get an amazing disko metal party and with supporting acts Japanese black metal outfit Sigh and the Finnish melancholics of Marianas Rest we got quite the diverse musical evening at Pakkahuone in Tampere, Finland to start a long Easter weekend! Tesseract came, saw, and absolutely conquered with a mesmerizing and mindblowing set of music at Tavastia in Helsinki, and with them they brought Unprocessed and The Callous Daoboys for a night of proggy delights!
“The Great Metal Circus 2024” landed in Helsinki, where Avatar turned being at Tavastia that night into something absolutely spectacular and memorable! And the support Æther Realm came all the way from the US to Finland for the very first time, doing a great job at warming up the crowd!
Amorphis managed to captivate our reporter once again when attending to their stop at Pakkahuone in Tampere on their “Halo Finland 2023 Tour”, a wonderful night hosted by TuskaLive and Greybeard Concerts & Management.
Lost Society and Amorphis played at Logomos Terassikesä in Turku, Finland last Friday and although there were some issues it was still a very enjoyable show from two great Finnish bands.
Ne Obliviscaris came to Tavastia in Helsinki to kick off their tour promoting their recently released ‘Exul’, and proved that they can overcome anything with an intense and masterful performance! Supported by their Andorran friends of Persefone and the Italian instrumentalists of Asymmetric Universe, they gave us a night of mind-bending prog music!
The French symphonic melodic death metal outfit Aephanemer came to On The Rocks, saw a wild crowd and conquered everyone’s hearts! Here’s for hoping that they get to come back to Finland some time really soon! And local up-and-comers Numento definitely got us warmed up properly for the main event!
Kamelot struck down in Helsinki to give us a proper “awakening” on their European tour, and brought with them some excellent support through Myrath, Eleine and League of Distortion! A night of absolutely excellent music that left a positive feeling with anyone who attended the show at Vanha Ylioppilastalo at the end of March!
Back in March, Leprous dropped by Vanha Ylioppilastalo in Helsinki on their “Aphelion European Tour” and swept us away with a night of exceptional music, supported by Monuments and Kalandra.
