At the end of January, Battle Beast and Merta came through Tampere’s Pakkahuone for a powerful sold out show presented by Tuhdimmat Tahdit and Master Events.

Besides starting the new year properly looking to the future, this month we’re also still looking back at all the awesomeness that 2023 brought us. One of those awsome things was the already 3rd edition of the by Bloodred Hourglass curated festival Black Box Mikkeli. They were able to bring a killer line-up again on the 2nd day of their event with besides a fantastic show by themselves, Insomnium, Gaerea, Balance Breach, I Am Your God and Lastout!

Pictures of yet another excellent show by the legendary Finnish metal band Amorphis at the gorgeous Kulttuuritalo venue in Helsinki!

Welcoming events that try to bring something different and out of the norm to Finland, we went to the second night of the club festival Hellsinki Techfest with Sirkuit Preiker, Khroma, Balance Breach and Hacktivist back in September for some killer music and high energy!

Lord of the Lost wrapped up their year with a mini tour in Finland, that ended with a sold out gig at Olympia-kortteli in Tampere, with as support Rain Diary and Gothminister. An event by TuskaLive and Grey Beard Concerts & Management that served as the perfect last show in 2023 for our photographer!

Without question, the biggest deathcore band in the world, Lorna Shore made their stop at Jäähalli, the biggest venue in Helsinki, bringing their biggest stage production yet to a sold out crowd on their “The Pain Remains EU Tour”, and with them they had Rivers of Nihil, Ingested and Distant, resulting in massive pits from start to finish!

Shereign finished off their year with a gig at Tampere YO-Talo on December 9th, organized by Nem Agency. They brought along Ikinä, Everwave and Lastout to make the night complete with up-and-coming Finnish artists.

Fitting for December we went to see André Linman perform some Christmas songs at Vaasa’s Trefaldighetskyrkan in Finland awhile back!

Yet another great gig of the Amorphis “Halo Finnish tour” at Tampere’s Pakkahuone last week, in front of an almost full house. An event hosted by TuskaLive.

The second night of John Smith Rock Frozen 2023 was pretty epic with some of the best of the Finnish scene with Red Eleven, Kiuas, Finntroll, Turmion Kätilöt and headliners Amorphis! Throw on top of that the Swedish up-and-comers of Orbit Culture, and you know it was good!

Last month, Turmion Kätilöt kicked off 2023 with their biggest production to date at Jäähalli in Helsinki, celebrating both their 2 decades of existence and the release of their 10th album ‘Omen X’ and with the help of Lord of the Lost and Proteus!

Throwback to Normandie finally making it back to Finland to celebrate their 2021 release ‘Dark & Beautiful Secrets’ and blew the roof off On The Rocks with the support from Balance Breach and Delta Enigma.

In Flames crammed the Jäähalli arena in Helsinki full with an energetic, pulsating crowd with the help of country mates At The Gates, Imminence and Orbit Culture, giving the people a taste of both the old and the new in Swedish metal!

Saor amazed us at Tiivistämö in Helsinki a good week ago with their mesmerizing soundscape, very special guests …and Oceans and support from Marrasmieli!

At the end of October, Volbeat impressed the people at the Nokia Arena in Tampere, Finland with a rock ‘n’ roll show of epic proportions. With them came Skindred and Bad Wolves for a decent warm-up and party!

Heilung came, saw and conquered the sold out Jäähalli in Helsinki at the end of October, yet another absolutely magical show by a phenomenon in the music scene. And their guests Eivør and Lili Refrain were the perfect people to warm an already excited crowd up even more!

The yearly preclub show for Hellsinki Industrial Festival was yet again filled with some banging artists going from Carnal Machinery and Jessi Frey, to dark electronica artist ESA!

Dead By April brought a true modern metal and metalcore party to Helsinki with the help of UK’s Blood Youth and Finland’s Ember Falls!

Amon Amarth and Machine Head came, saw and delivered! The ‘Vikings & Lionhearts tour’ made a stop in Helsinki, Finland and set the room on fire, quite literally… Support came from Swedish melodeath supergroup The Halo Effect.

The old school “Brummie Hardcore Punks” of GBH came to celebrate the 40th anniversary of their debut album ‘City Baby Attacked by Rats’ and started a riot at On The Rocks in Helsinki with support from Broken Trend and Likaiset Pikkarit!
