Ramkot shares final single ‘Hollow’

With ‘Hollow’, the third single from their new album ‘Rosa’ Ramkot, the trio from Ghent, proves that they are more than just a classic rock band. The pedal is eased off, and the battering ram is exchanged for a menacing knock on the door. In ‘Hollow’, we drift through a story in which someone loses themselves and erases their own identity out of fear of revealing a painful reality to the other. With this new song, the band once again lifts a corner of the veil, leaving us increasingly curious about their second full-length album ‘Rosa’.

For their second album, brothers Tim and Tom Leyman and Hannes Cuyvers spent three weeks in the US working on this new record, following in the footsteps of their musical heroes and even using some of their instruments. They resided in the famous Rancho De La Luna with producer Alain Johannes (Queens Of The Stone Age, Arctic Monkeys, Eagles Of Death Metal…).

If the recording of the debut album was a fragmentary process and Ramkot producing themselves, it felt refreshing to work for 3 weeks on end and with an outsider as producer this time. ‘It was all very organic’, the band recalls. ‘There was a certain looseness to the recording that can be heard on the album as well. We pulled out all the stops, not pushing our foot down on the accelerator all the time, which allows the music to breathe more. The album will have a couple of softer songs the fans will not be expecting from us.’ Not merely stoner rock then, with influences ranging from The Dead Weather, Nine Inch Nails and King Gizzard to even The Smile. Yet every single note still sounds very much like Ramkot.

For the artwork Ramkot collaborated with Sam Scarpulla, a Belgian-American artist living in Ghent, making abstract and minimalist art. ‘We were on the same wavelength from the very first meeting and gave Sam full artistic freedom to design the album cover.
