The 10th edition of Roadkill Festival in Waarschoot, Belgium will be one to remember. This jubilee year they have a hefty line-up of rock ‘n’ roll, rockabilly, stoner rock, country and the likes spread over 2 days and 2 stages.
To pick out a few big or interesting names on the line-up:
On Friday, you get as headliner Dutch Peter Pan Speedrock, known for their high paced hard rock music and being the loudest band in the Lowlands. You could experience it as a cross between Motörhead and AC/DC, but on speed! Expect a good dose of humor, hard rock, rock ‘n’ roll and partying… Be sure to not miss this show, cause the 3rd appearance at Roadkill Festival will be their last. They made it a stop on their international farewell tour which will put an end to the 20-year adventure. Besides the headliner there are definitely many other great hard rock and rock ‘n’ roll bands to warm you up for the main event. Like The Glücks, who opened for Oblivians a bit ago at a gig in Ghent. Or Devastatiön, who killed it and destroyed Kinkystar at the Grimmse Feesten during the Gentse Feesten 2016.
On Saturday the legendary and mighty Belgian Fifty Foot Combo will climb the stage to drown you in rock ‘n’ roll, surf and garage rock. We’ll also get a few true American style musicians with Bob Wayne (And His Outlaw Carnies), bringing stories from the road in a “punkabilly” sound and Hayseed Dixie, the (at first only AC/DC) cover band, bringing (hard) rock classics in bluegrass and country. Known for covering classics like Mötorhead‘s Ace of Spades and AC/DC‘s Highway To Hell, or the hilarious rendition of Queen‘s Bohemian Rhapsody, they’ll crank up the heat (and beer consumption) through the roof!
Talking about beer: the headliner on the main stage is Dutch John Coffey. The band went viral some time ago when the singer, while crowd walking, caught a cup of beer like it’s nothing to then drink the remainder! Furthermore is their music a great mix of hard rock, punk and post-hardcore that’ll set the roof on fire!
Roadkill is like earlier mentioned in the city of Waarschoot and easy reached by car, motorcycle, bike, bus, train or on foot. There’s a large parking right next to the festival area, for more information go have a look on the site. On Friday the doors open at 18:00 and first band starts at 19:00. There will be several food trucks present with meat and veggie treats for the hungry souls. And if we can believe the organisation, there’s lots of beer (besides non-alcoholic stuff)! On Friday the guys and girls of “Night of the Metal Breakdown” are hosting their “Tropical Breakdown Bar” and on Saturday you can enjoy some strong and special beers in the “70’s Cycle Bar”. If you don’t feel like traveling back home early, there’s a free camping available from Friday 16:00 ’till Sunday 12:00.
