A greatest hits album by Powerwolf that summarizes 15 years of holy powermetal.
This albums contains the best of the Powerwolf library. Songs that we know as they are, but also songs in a new 2019/2020 version. And damn, it just gives me the chills. They’ve created an extra dimension in songs like opener ‘We Drink Your Blood’, ‘Wherewolfs of Armania’, ‘Resurrection by Erection’, ‘Sanctified with Dynamite‘, ‘In Blood We Trust‘ and a special one, Kiss of The Cobra King. A song from their first album ‘Return in Bloodred’, released in 2005. It’s a special song for the band, so they decided to make a video as well.
I also listened to the original version and, man, what a difference. It really shows how Powerwolf has grown, how they write their music and how they bring the music to the people.
It was a song I didn’t know because I joined the army only recently when ‘Blessed and Possessed’ came out. For me, the album got me into some new songs and I’m sure for people that already know the song, it will bring back cool memories and create some new ones with it.
Next to these revisited songs, there are some nice classics like ‘Sacred & Wild’, ‘Let There Be Night’, and, of course, ‘Armata Strigoi’. Let’s be honest, everybody that has ever attended a Powerwolf show simply knows this song. Maybe not by name, but definitely by melody. Lead singer Attila Dorn usually sings it before singing the full song, but I think by now he realizes he doesn’t really need to do that anymore as everybody knows this song by heart. If you don’t believe me, listen to the live track on the 2nd cd.
Speaking about live music, if you buy the earbook, you get a second cd with a live show from their Wolfsnächte tour in 2018. An amazing tour where I go it to see them live with Amaranthe and Kissin Dynamite in the AB in Brussels, Belgium. I remember the whole room just giving it their all. Amazing.
In short, this is an album that will please all Powerwolf fans and will give new fans a taste of what the band is like on cd and live. It makes you want to go to one of their shows and watch them for yourself.
It’s what we expect from Powerwolf with on top of that a special power that pulls you into the music and posseses you.
