Metal fans from all over Indiana and Ohio showed up to rock out on this September Sunday evening! Piere’s was buzzing with concertgoers as soon as the doors unlocked and the opening band, 3130, took the stage. They got the crowd ready and were a nice addition to the lineup.

Up next was the Maryland based rock band Any Given Sin made up of Victor Ritchie [vocals], Mike Conner [guitar], Mike Showalter [drums] and Rich Stevenson [bass]. Rich unfortunately had a family emergency and did not perform with the band for this show.  Any Given Sin always put on a great show, and this was no exception.

Hitting the stage next was Adelitas Way, hailing from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 2006, the band is made up of Rick DeJesus [vocals}, Trevor Staffod [drums], Andrew Cushing [bass] and Grayson Erhard [guitar]. What a fun band to watch! They brought a nice energy to the stage.

Saliva took the stage next! Formed in Memphis, Tennessee in 1996-Saliva has been on the rock scene for a long time and has had a lot of success despite the many changes that have come to pass. On stage Sunday was Bobby Amaru [vocals], Brad Stewart [bass], Sammi Jo Bishop [drums], Sebastian LaBar [guitar] and Josh Kulack [guitar] is It was nice to see the little reminders of Swinny on stage such as Sammi Jo’s drum kit and Sebastion’s and Bobby’s shirts. Saliva put on a great show, and you could tell from the crowd! Bobby even had a little fan onto stage to help get the crowd rowdy.

Last, but certainly not least, veteran band Drowning Pool brought the house down on this September evening! Another band formed in 1996, Drowning Pool has vocalist Ryan McCombs back as front man with CJ Pierce [guitar], Stevie Benton [bass] and Mike Luce [drums]. The crowd fed into the powerful vocals and energy as a small pit formed and a few crowd-surfed across the sea of people towards the stage. A cool moment was watching Ryan sing from the pit, Drowning Pool’s beloved fans. It was an awesome performance!

If you have the chance to catch this tour-do yourself a favor and get there!

Brymir started the night with some fish metal and now that Steve (the pike) is back from his adventures we also got the obligatory flying fish again. Then we went to some creepy, cold Finnish forest with Wolfheart, where they showed us their tormented reindeer from hell. And lastly, Before the Dawn rounded up the night.

I guess the interested in this show wasn’t quite as big as predicted by the organisers. And to be fair, I also expected there to be more people. This was a very well fitting combination of bands, of which I heard how crowed the Helsinki show the day before was. I really don’t understand how, on a Saturday night, a line-up like this can leave Pakkahuone only half full. It was a good evening, nonetheless.

GRIMM was present on the first tour led by the Italians Wind Rose, who were joined by the Germans All For Metal and the North Americans Seven Kingdoms. After undergoing an upgrade in relation to the room in which they were going to play, due to the strong turnout and requests for tickets, we can certainly say that it was a great option. The largest room in Munich’s metal club was filled to full capacity with metalheads with a taste for more traditional genres.

Opening the show were Seven Kingdoms from Florida, returning to Munich after 10 years, and what a great comeback! Fun and with a great sense of humour on stage, the band showed that they love what they do, and the feeling is genuine.  They took the opportunity to present their latest album ‘Zenith’ to the Bavarian public and the audience loved it.

All For Metal are a proud German band for sure, with a classic sound that makes traditional heavy metal shine again. The band’s name says it all, and it is no coincidence that it is often assumed to be the fully written out name of their label AFM Records. With two ladies taking charge of the guitars,  Jassy Pabst and Ursula Zanichelli, showing the ability to make very beautiful and technically advanced things, the band also features a duo of vocalists who complement each other with very distinctive and harmonious voices, very characteristic of the musical genre. They really are a recipe for success, and in Munich they gave a huge concert.

Finally, on stage, the main reason for our visit, the inventors of “dwarf metal”, the Italians Wind Rose are currently making their first major tour of Europe as headliners. They’ve recently received great acceptance from the public, and presenting their latest album ‘Warfront’, they managed to attract a crowd to see them in Munich, which is proof that the public wants them, a lot!

On Friday September 15th, we made our way to the Kaminwerk in Memmingen, to see A Life Divided and Tag my Heart. I’m sure the almost 200 other people had just as much fun as I had.

After Tag my Heart literally warmed up the whole hall, A Life Divided gave us one sing-a-long hit after the other.

All in all, a great evening.

Infected Rain

For those who missed Graspop, tonight was the second chance to see Infected Rain live in Belgium this year. Sergey and Vladimir left the band earlier this year, and Vladimir was replaced by Alice. If you didn’t know this, you’d think she’s been in the band since the beginning. She fits in as if she’s always been there!

Lena mentioned that Infected Rain’s first time in Belgium was in 2014, and she appreciated the dedication of the people who had always showed up since the first time. The venue itself (DVG Club) is ‘the new location’ of what used to be ‘De Verlichte Geest’ where Infected Rain has played before. Lena said expressed her thanks towards Sarah, calling her the best hostess a band could wish for.

As usual, the entire band took the time to meet the fans after the show, have a little chat and take some pictures.

Warm up act was All Hail the Yeti from Los Angeles, CA.

This past August On The Rocks, Helsinki experienced a full on death metal assault by the undeniable legends themselves, Possessed! After canceling shows in Finland over a few years, these Bay Area legends were highly anticipated by Finnish metalheads with a great turnout on a sold out show. The house was absolutely packed to the brim, and the massive moshpits didn’t help to move around in the venue at all. The gig was a great balance of newer material and also old school classics for the old heads in the crowd. It was a sweaty, intense and fun evening of full death metal mayhem, and you can see it for yourself by looking at our photos down below!

In the last hot days of this year’s summer, the ‘H.E.A.T & Eclipse Co-Headliner Tour 2023’ entered the stage at the ‘Im Wizemann’ in Stuttgart, Germany.

Approximately 10 mins. early H.E.A.T entered the stage first and added some degrees of heat to the venue. Their name was not an exaggeration at this day. Singer Kenny Leckremo jumped on stage like Jack out of the box and kept moving, dancing and involving the audience full-time. With their last album ‘Force Majeure’ (2022) in the back, they delivered a great gig.

After the short break, co-headliner Eclipse took the stage and audience immediately by opening up their gig with their current hit-single ‘The hardest part is loosing you’ from the latest long-player ‘Megalomanium’. The crowd got wild immediately and pushed further by the band, as well as the temperature and humidity in the venue.

That was a night of awesome Swedish hard rock, and both bands delivered to the full expectation of the audience. Hope you’ll enjoy our photo-report!

Ever since his stint at Eurovision, Daði Freyr has been on our radar as an absolutely unique artist in the realm of pop and more mainstream music. So when he finally made it to a venue nearby us, we knew we had to catch this show! It became a night full of great music, jokes and togetherness, absolutely memorable!

Be'lakor

Eight years after their last visit to Europe, Be’lakor was back on tour in Europe where they played 16 shows spread over 3 weeks, which was immediately their biggest tour ever. They played at 6 Festivals including Wacken, Summer Breeze and Brutal Assault and in 10 club shows of which more than half were in countries where they had never played before such as Sweden, Finland, Belgium, and Switzerland. No wonder 9 out of 10 club shows were sold out! This show was originally planned in Kortrijk, but because it sold out so quickly and the demand for tickets kept coming, they decided to move it to the JOC in Ypres which has double the capacity of the venue in Kortrijk.

Considering they come from Australia, they have probably already started the tour with quite a bit of jet lag. So at the very end of the tour, 3 weeks later (of which they barely had 3 days off), it’s no wonder they gave a tired impression on stage. Nevertheless, they played a flawless set. After 8 songs, they stopped and left the stage. The ‘we want more’ shouts were soon answered with the last song, by unanimous request of the audience: ‘Countless Skies’.

The support act was the German formation Hiraes, a band was formed by the musicians of the former band Dawn of Disease (Lukas Kerk, Oliver Kirchner, Christian Wösten, Mathias Blässe), supplemented by the super energetic vocalist Britta Görtz (Critical Mess, Ex-Cripper) who knows how to get the crowd along in no time! Hiraes released their first and so far only album ‘Solitary’ in 2021.
