Since last years edition Tuhdimmat Tahdit is located right in the centre of Tampere on the shore of Tammerkoski. It’s only a few minutes walk from the train station and an even shorter distance from the bus station. Due to that it’s really easy to get to and from  the festival area. There is also plenty of local buses going close by to all directions.

The central location also gives you all the options on different foods. If you don’t like the available options at the festival you can reach Ratina shopping centre with many affordable restaurants  in approximately 5 minutes.

And if the year continues to be as hot as it has so been far the location inside a park offers at least some shade to escape the brutal heat of the sun, as well as plenty of spots to sit down comfortably and get a bit of a rest.

As already mentioned Tuhdimmat Tahdit is located within walking distance of both the train station as well as the bus station. But what is even better is that they managed to negotiate some additional night trains with VR, so that you can actual get back home after the festival and can save money on accommodations.

At 119,90 € for two day or 69,90 € for a one day ticket this festival is a good bargain. You can  see up to 14 bands during the festival, so even if you are only interested in a handful of these bands you still save money compared to seeing them on their headlining shows. Of course you could also do both, for example on one of the Tuhdimmat Klubi shows that are organised throughout the year.
One thing that needs to be mentioned though is the pretty drastic price increase since last year. At first glance it didn’t seem all that bad, but seeing as there is also a lot less bands this year it does make me wonder a little.

Both food and drinks were reasonably priced last year and you won’t go bankrupted from enjoining a couple cold ones. And of course you can refill your water bottles for free.

This year Tuhdimmat Tahdit is rocking an entirely domestic line-up. So if you’re hoping to see some foreign bands this is not the place for you. But if you are a fan of Finnish metal you will definitely find something for your taste here. There are internationally well known bands like Amorphis, Stratovarius or Sonata Arctica as well as some of the most famous Finnish singing metal bands, like Stam1na, Mokoma and Apulanta.

Also after 13 years of silence Suburban Tribe have returned to the stage. They confirmed several shows this summer, including Tuhdimmat Tahdit, so now it’s your chance to experience some nostalgia and see these titans of Finnish alternative Metal/Rock live.

And as if that wasn’t enough yet there is still Kotiteollisuus, Lost Society, Marko Hietala, Brother Firetribe, Huora, Klamydia and Tarot.

Tuhdimmat Tahdit has become the biggest Rock- and Metal-Festival in the Pirkanmaa Region, yet it still feels rather intimate. Maybe it’s because the focus of the event lays in Finland’s very own musicians? Or maybe the people of Tampere are just especially warm and welcoming? Whatever it is, Tuhdimmat Tahdit has been one of the cosiest festivals I got too experience so far. The festival area is very easy to navigate as it isn’t too big. You can still see the stage somewhat even from the sitting area, so you don’t have to miss out on any band just because you want to grab a bite to eat, which I find really useful. It is although possible that the festivals layout is somewhat different this year as this year around there seems to be only one stage.

As it seems the organisers of Tuhdimmat Tahdit decide to book a few bands less the year and instead have a little break between bands. While I’m not sure what’s the reason for this, I’m already very happy about it, as this will make for an even more relaxed festival experience in my opinion.
