That Finland is a country riddled with quality bands and talented musicians, is a well-known fact within the metal community. It’s none too surprising that on regular occasions, you see new groups pop up that consist out of musicians from several other successful bands. One such group is the melodic metal outfit Smackbound that is getting ready to release their debut album ’20/20′ on June 12th via Frontiers Music. With a line-up of Netta Laurenne on vocals who has been contributing to the Finnish music scene for quite a while, drummer Rolf Pilve (Stratovarius, Wintersun), guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari (Wintersun), keyboardist Vili Itäpelto (Tracedawn) and bassist Tuomas Yli–Jaskari (Tracedawn, music producer at Sonic Pump Studios) it’s a pretty much stacked line-up. We were all too eager to have a chat with Neta about the upcoming album and more…
Netta talked quite a bit about the band itself, how it is to work with all of these talented people and how they are here to make music that matters and stay humble despite their personal qualities. She also told us the meaning behind the title ’20/20′, what they hope to accomplish with their music and how recording went like on a tight schedule, with people falling asleep during for instance.
