Exclusive interview Pridian – “It still feels surreal, this is a bucketlist moment for us”

When we were getting ready to go to this year’s Helsinki Techfest, one of our PR contacts recommended checking out Pridian while we were at the event. The Estonian metal band was set to play a show there, which was basically their first show outside their country and supposedly a band we should get excited about. On top of that, our contacts shared a bit of information that was to be announced still at the end of September, so we arranged to have a quick talk with the guys just before their set about the excellent year they’re having…

When we met up with the whole band, they were feeling pretty good. Being at Helsinki Techfest meant that they were playing their first show ever outside of Estonia. And next month, they’re still playing a show at Euroblast, with an amazing line-up and basically their 2nd show ever outside their country.

But to really make 2024 a monumental year for Pridian, they get to announce that they’re signed to major label Century Media Records. Which to them feels unreal and is a bucketlist moment at the same time, since a bunch of bands they listened to in their youth are on their roster. And at the same time, Century Media seems to be setting the tone of where modern metal/heavy music is going, so it’s really amazing for them to be on this label.

Now that they’re part of a major label, they’re mostly hoping to tour as much as they can. We had to ask who they’re hoping to tour with if they could dream, and we got 3TEETH, Silent Planet, Skrillex (somewhat jokingly said) and Korn, which seems like some solid match-ups. Fingers crossed that they get an opportunity to tour with one of them! They’re also looking forward to release the album they’ve been working on, it’s confirmed: it’s coming as soon as possible!

Whenever you can, and they end up at a venue near you on future tours, be sure to go check them out because besides some killer music, they promise a cinematic experience live. Where they put a lot of effort in working out a cool stage production with a solid light show and visuals that go with the soundscape they try to build with their music. Which is really interesting to hear from a band that hasn’t been around for all that long. Though, they think it makes a difference that most of them have been making music and doing this for a long time and from the get-go knew what they wanted to do.

With the announcement of them signing to Century Media Records, they also released a new single ‘Near Dark’, go check it out!
