Three bands from all over the world with Crossfaith from Japan, Ocean Grove from Australia and Black Futures from the United Kingdom rocked the Antwerp venue Trix. Check out how we experienced this night:

Black Futures (**1/2)

When suddenly a man dressed in a forensic suit appears on stage, you just know the two guys from Black Futures won’t let you wait much longer. And they’re set to start the show with power. With the front man constantly jumping around the stage and the drummer even standing up the whole time, there was a lot of energy on stage. So much energy they even walked around in the audience from time to time. There was still a lot of room in the venue, but the first rows had already been warmed up properly. Black Futures‘ aural assault of anarchic electro psych punk noise is something you have to experience live.

Ocean Grove (***)

Through the music playing just before their performance we heard the dudes from Ocean Grove screaming and hyping themselves up to storm the stage and blast everyone away. They looked alternative, they sounded alternative, they are alternative.

In no time the whole crowd was jumping and singing along. Even a few technical problems with the bass couldn’t disturb the ambiance. Mosh-pits and crowd surfers started to appear. The talks from Dale Tanner in between the song were really inspiring speeches. Every time they started a song they immediately sent good vibes through the venue.

Crossfaith (***)

A voice warned us the show would start in 15 minutes. The countdown went on: 10 minutes, 8 minutes, 5 minutes, 3 minutes, 2 minutes, 1 minute, 30 seconds, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1 … Ready for Crossfaith!

One by one the band members came on stage and made a great entrance. When Kenta Koie entered the venue, magic entered as well. He can make a crowd do anything he wants before he even starts singing. Fist and horns in the air, waving arms, circle pits and walls of death; there wasn’t one single person standing still tonight.

Until one of them suddenly grabbed a can of Cara Pils, a crappy cheap Belgian beer. The music stopped and the whole room went quiet. Ssss … waiting … click, pssst, the beer was opened, thrown into the crowd and the madness went on.

Their electronicore, a fusion genre of metalcore with various electronic elements, just makes you want to move and be a part of everything that is happening. We know these musicians like to jump on things, but here they even hung from the ceiling. When Terufumi Tamano stage dove on top of the crowd, he simply continued to sing.

If you like electronicore, you have to see this band. If you don’t know the genre, Crossfaith will make you like it with their phenomenal live performance.
