Ghost’s new album “Prequelle” lands on charts Worldwide
Grammy® Award-winning band Ghost’s critically acclaimed fourth sacred psalm Prequelle has debuted in charts worldwide, after it’s release on June 1st.
The new album entered the US Billboard Top 200 Albums chart at #3, #2 Top Current Album, #1 Rock, and #1 Vinyl, with over 65,700 albums sold in the US alone in the first week of release.
Prequelle also debuted at #1 in Sweden, Norway and Finland and the UK Rock Chart, #2 in Germany and Switzerland, #3 in Mexico, #4 in France and Belgium (Vlaanderen), #5 in Spain and Belgium (Wallonie), #6 in Canada and Austria, #7 in Australia, #10 in the UK and Portugal, #14 in the Netherlands (incl. #2 in the Dutch Vinyl chart), #18 in Czech Republic, #31 in Greece, #33 in Poland, #36 in Italy and most recent also in New Zealand, topping their heatseeker charts at #1.
This follows over 5 million pre-release streams of first single “Rats”, the first-ever Instagram Stories song premiere for “Dance Macabre” with over 5 million streams in three weeks (the band’s fastest streaming song to date) and the announcement of their first ever headline arena dates in the US as well as appearances at various European summer festivals.

Yesterday Ghost joined legendary metal band Candlemass to honor Metallica by performing “Enter Sandman” as members Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo are presented with the Polar Music Prize by the King of Sweden, Carl XVI Gustaf.
Ghost announced Prequelle (pronounced prē-KWELL) alongside the album’s lead single “Rats” on April 13, 2018 and introduced fans to the band’s new singer Cardinal Copia. Prequelle follows Ghost’s third studio album, Meliora, and its accompanying EP Popestar, which elevated the Swedish rock band into the pantheon of the greatest rock bands on earth and resulted in a Grammy® Award for ‘Best Metal Performance’. Meliora also debuted in the Top 10 on USA’s Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart and sold over a quarter million copies globally. The band made their USA network television debut performing the album’s lead single “Cirice” on CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. Popestar debuted at the No. 1 position on Billboard’s Top Rock Albums and Hard Rock Albums chart and produced an Active Rock chart topper with“Square Hammer”.
