On to the last day already. Time flies by when you’re having fun. Let’s take a look at what this day had in store for us!

Body Count ft. Ice-T

Not my favorite band, but Body Count ft. Ice-T can always make my body move. Not too much to say about the performance, besides nice heavy metal music with political rap lyrics to think about if you want to, but to just dance to if you don’t want to think for a moment. They also did a Raining Blood cover (Slayer) and a cover of War / UK 82 / Disorder (The Exploited).

Setlist:

Body Count’s in the House
Raining Blood / Postmortem (Slayer cover)
Bowels of the Devil
There Goes the Neighborhood
The Purge
Point the Finger
Manslaughter
Necessary Evil
Psychopath
No Lives Matter
War / UK 82 / Disorder (The Exploited cover)
Drive By
Talk Shit, Get Shot
Cop Killer
Born Dead

Corey Taylor

For a moment I thought it was strange to see SpongeBob cut-outs in the crowd when Corey Taylor, frontman of Stone Sour and Slipknot, started to play on stage. But when he started to sing the theme song to the cartoon, I remembered the running joke. He does play the song a lot on his shows, and I was happy to have heard it live too. It gets everybody laughing. I loved it when he played my favorite Stone Sour song Song #3. He played a mix of original solo project songs like Post Traumatic Blues and Home, Stone Sour songs like Made of Scars and Through Glass and Slipknot songs like Snuff and closer Duality. I didn’t know what to expect from his show, but it was very entertaining and fun to say the least. I really enjoyed myself listening to the variety of songs.

Setlist:

Post Traumatic Blues
Made of Scars (Stone Sour cover)
Black Eyes Blue
We Are the Rest
Song #3 (Stone Sour)
Beyond
Before I Forget (Slipknot cover)
SpongeBob SquarePants Theme (Painty the Piarate & Kids cover)
Snuff (Slipknot cover)
From Can to Can’t
Home
Through Glass (Stone Sour cover)
Duality (Slipknot cover)

Deep Purple

Deep Purple is Deep Purple; true classics. Yeah, you notice that the band is old. Lead singer Ian Gillan is shaking while holding the microphone, and drum solo’s tent to be a bit longer, so the band has a bit of a break in between. But these guys are legends. It is great to see such a legendary band live, even though their sound quality is not exactly on point anymore.

Setlist:

Highway Star
A Bit on the Side
Hard Lovin’ Man
Into the Fire
Guitar Solo
Uncommon Man
Lazy
Portable Door
Anya
Keyboard Solo
Bleeding Obvious
Space Truckin’
Smoke on the Water

Black Night

Scorpions

The same can be said for Scorpions. It’s a true classic and a legendary band. But compared to Deep Purple, Scorpions‘ sound was still rich and full. Everybody knows the songs that they played. Classics like Wind of Change, Blackout, Rock You Like a Hurricane, … Turns out that Scorpions‘ music can be romantic too, but that’s a personal experience.

Setlist:

Coming Home (Intro)
Gas in the Tank
Make It Real
The Zoo
Coast to Coast
I’m Leaving You
Crossfire
Bad Boys Running Wild
Delicate Dance
Send Me an Angel
Wind of Change
Tease Me Please Me
The Same Thrill
New Vision
Blackout
Big City Nights

Still Loving You
Rock You Like a Hurricane

Machine Head

Machine Head was the closer of this day and of the festival. A great show with nice heavy metal music to enjoy. They played a variety of songs, bringing their greatest hits throughout their discography. Songs like Ten Ton Hammer, Is There Anybody Out There?, and closer Halo were all there. Simply great to listen to and having a great time. At the end of the show, square beach balls with the band logo on it came out for the crowd to play with.

Setlist:

Imperium
Ten Ton Hammer
Choke On the Ashes of Your Hate
Now We Die
Is There Anybody Out There?
Locust
The Blood, The Sweat, the Tears
No Gods, No Masters
Guitar Solo
Darkness Within
Bulldozer
From This Day
Davidian

Halo

After that, it was time for the ending speech and the announcement of the dates for GMM 2025: June 19 till June 22, 2025. Fireworks were sent into the air, and we get to look back on once again a muddy but amazing edition.

Because of the rain, the car parking did stay closed, which was annoying to say the least. The organisation asked to not arrive on Wednesday and set up camp, but arrive on Thursday with public transport. They also made sure there were extra buses to take the people from the train station to the festival area. People with day tickets were not allowed to camp because of lack of space due to the rain and the mud. There was an emergency plan, but only a few people needed to use that. But those inconveniences didn’t take away the joy of GMM24!

I’m looking forward to next year. See you there!?
