Black Leather Jacket in finals contest StuBru
The garage rockband Black Leather Jacket is the only rock band who got to the finals of the contest De Nieuwe Lichting from radio station StuBru (Studio Brussels). The Belgian radio station organises since 2013 the competition for young, unknown musical talents.
The band plays energetic garage rock with noise. Their band members are Nicolas d’Exelle (guitarist) and the brothers Alexander Van Der Wallen (singer/guitarist/bassist) and Matthijs Van Der Wallen (drummer). They participated in the contest with their song Troublemaker.
Alexander (singer): I wrote the song Troublemaker 3 or 4 years ago and we’ve been playing it live for years, but we actually only recorded it last summer on our 2nd EP Criminals. I’m really happy about the song, I’m glad we got selected thanks to it.
The band will play live Friday in the Ancienne Belgique with the other finalists: The Lighthouse (happy indie-pop), Kai Wén (deep trap/RnB), A M A Z U M I (hip-hop), Tundra (electropop/RnB), Me & The Critters (singer-songwriter), LUDOVIQ (soul) and Tamino (melancholic singer-songwriter).
Alexander (singer): I never thought I would ever play in the Ancienne Belgique, but this Friday it’s happening!
The contest runs until the 3rd of Februari. You can vote here.
