The biggest change lies in the vocals, Linnea has a different voice compared to her predecessor Guernica Mancini (now THE GEMS). However, the DNA of THUNDERMOTHER has been successfully retained while tailoring the new songs to suit the unique and intense vocals of Linnea, showcasing the band’s songwriting prowess. The result is a 10-track hard and heavy rock album, exactly what fans expect from THUNDERMOTHER. It continues the trajectory set by previous albums ‘Black & Gold’ and ‘Heat Wave’, the latter featuring the hit single ‘Driving In Style’, which significantly boosted the band’s popularity.
Catchy tunes and choruses invite to sing-along, while the new vocal dynamics combined with gritty guitar riffs and a driving rhythm section make it all possible. The strong radio play of the already released songs indicates the potential for a powerful live performance driven by the band’s energetic and powerful delivery. The AC/DC influences are undeniable. The pop-melodic tinge of ‘Feeling Alright’ bears a slight resemblance to THE DARKNESS and their album ‘Permission to Land‘. Many more influences can be traced, illustrating the album’s strength.
At the same time, this is the only minor criticism: the album sticks to familiar territory without surprises or significant changes. The upside is the band’s raw, unpolished sound remains intact, offering a high level of recognizability. THUNDERMOTHER’s unique sound is immediately identifiable. Unfortunately, it’s over after just 10 songs, but this brevity is quite typical for a classic hard rock album.
REVIEW SCORE
9.8 | Dirty & Divine’ is overall a fantastic and highly recommended hard rock album that is sure to thrill any true rock fan. A must-have addition to your record collection. My favourite and listening recommendation is definitely ‘Take The Power’ which is the most powerful song with most drive on this record. |
