Norwegian black metal outfit Mork returns with the sixth album 'Dypet' out since March 24th, 2023 via Peaceville Records. As a result of hard work and dedication, mastermind Thomas Eriksen created a legacy of his fine craftsmanship proving to be one of Norway’s prime musicians. Mork’s musical style displayed the raw and organic formula of old-school black metal. These traits were refined throughout the years and for this reason 'Dypet' reflects the quality that holds classic characteristics.

Switzerland’s Aara brings its third concept album titled “Triade III: Nyx” and boasts impressive performance and well-crafted compositions. Less than a year after releasing their second entry of the trilogy "Triade II: Hemera", the Swiss trio explores themes of the vintage novel "Melmoth the Wanderer" by the Irish writer Charles Maturin. The sonic work of the three members Berg (guitar, bassist, and keyboardist), Fluss (vocals, lyrics), and J. (drums) have compiled a succinct song craft, although much of the fat has been cut from the composition of the fifth album spanning 40 minutes.

Germany’s black metal quintet Thron has scaled its sound to come to the forefront in the black metal scene. The band was formed in 2015 and released three albums with “Dust” their fourth album which seems never to lose its abrasiveness and aggression. Containing eleven tracks with a total runtime of fifty-five minutes? Thron congeals its musical cohesiveness to the point that each track is manifestly honed.

Swedish death doomsters Runemagick have been bringing the doom since the early nineties. In their earliest incarnation, they were pretty much a straight-up death metal band with a particular penchant for Bolt Thrower. Over the years and specifically since the self-explanatory "Darkness Death Doom” record they slowed down their pace and moved much closer to the lumbering slab of death doom they became notorious for in the first decade of the millennium with excellent album like "On Funeral Wings", "Envenom" or "Invocation of Magick".

Five years after debuting their EP 'First Sermon' Icelandic black metal act Úlfúð has unleashed its first studio album on March 17, 2023, via Dark Descent Records. By all means, the sequel truly delivers an incredible song structure, atmosphere and thundering riffs that are meticulously crafted by the quintet. The band's lineup includes the founding members such as bassist Hannar Sindri Grétarsson, drummer Sigurður Jakobsson, guitarists Birkir Kárason and Eysteinn Orri Sigurðsson and vocalist Breki Danielsen Imsland.

Norway’s avant-garde industrial black metal outfit Dødheimsgard has gone through metaphorical transformations in sound, since the dawn of the early 1990s. The release of their classic debut offering “Kronet til konge” is in my opinion one of the best black metal albums the band has ever made. The paradigm shift in the spheres of avant-garde/industrial music marked a creative approach for mastermind Vicotnik (Yusaf Parvez) with the 2015 album “A Umbra Omega”. Within thirty years, a fundamental change had occurred from pure black metal to a more innovative and introspective direction.

Catacomb is one of the underrated acts in the French death metal scene, the band was established in 1990 by the vocalist Ben Bussy (bass, vocals) and Tony (lead guitar). Their discography contains three demos, two EPs, and two compilations released by the underground label Armée de la Mort Records and Dark Symphonies. In 2018 Catacomb reformed again and released three singles only to return with the first full-length album “When the Stars Are Right” now out via Xtreem Music since March 23rd, 2023.

Norway’s black metal outfit Keep of Kalessin is one of the elite groups in the Scandinavian scene, their debut album “Through Times of War” still stands as one of the best albums that came out in the nineties' era. Led by the original member Obsidian Claw (vocals, guitars, and keyboardist) alongside the long-time bassist Wizziac, and drummer Wanja “Nechtan” Gröger. The seventh album “Katharsis” released on March 24th, 2023 via Back on Black and preserves the band’s stature and offers a monumentally powerful record.
