German death metal quartet Carnal Tomb launched its third studio album “Embalmed In Decay” on November 3rd, 2023, via Testimony Records. Oozing from the subterranean crypts, Carnal Tomb is musically influenced by the old school Dutch death/doom metal bands like Asphyx. Carnal Tomb’s newest endeavor shows great ability to cement its obscure sound even though their sophomore release “Abhorrent Veneration” was the band strongest effort, every song on that album brought a mixture of doomy sections.

Long-running death metal act Autopsy unleashed its ninth studio album “Ashes, Organs, Blood and Crypts” out now via Peaceville Records on October 27th, 2023. Standing as a staple in the death metal genre since 1987, the band’s quality remained unchanged despite the new album holding back onto the cold sadistic and uglier sound of the past albums like “Macabre Eternal”, “Tourniquets Hacksaw and Graves” and “The Headless Ritual”. Autopsy claws deep into the flesh and picking up after the 2022 album “Morbidity Triumphant”.

‘American Gothic‘ is the name of a renowned painting from 1930, aside from being a literary substyle within the gothic genre, essentially the overseas version of the more British styled classic gothic novel, sometimes also referred to as southern Gothic. It is also the fifth installment of Wayfarer, a group of desperadoes from Colorado that infuses their melodic black metal anthems with the dust from the Far West instead of the usual Northern mythology or devil worship.

On October 14, 2022, Blink-182 released a new song called 'Edging' and announced a new album. Fans were going crazy and rumors started to occur. But no real news about the name or the release date of the album was given. On October 20, 2023, almost a year later, the new album was finally real. It goes by the name of ‘One More Time’. This is the first album with all original band members together again, but will this really be the last time? Time will tell, but we are in for an emotional ride and laughs along the side.

I discovered Twin Temple years ago, shortly before the pandemic, when they dropped by in Helsinki for a show, and was immediately bewitched by them. Bringing back that golden time of rock 'n' roll and doo-wop back in the 40s and 50s, but with a wonderful and whimsical Satanic sauce poured over it, Twin Temple really is a fresh wind in the music scene. They've been spreading their message of satanism and feminism all over the world, supporting Ghost on most of their world tour, and just hot of their US tour with Danzig and Behemoth. And now they released a brand-new album of songs on the all too fitting October Friday the 13th for us to revel in!

Polish black metal quartet Mānbryne released its much-anticipated sophomore album “O Próbie Wiary I Jarzmie Zwątpienia" on October 13th, 2023, through Terratur Possessions and Malignant Voices. Mānbryne perceptive songwriting marked the path of the band to take a modern direction with black metal, and it feels like the sophomore album is a fantastic follow-up to the band’s debut “Heilsweg: O Udręce Ciała I Tułaczce Duszy”.

Epic heavy/doom metal veteran Cirith Ungol unfolds their sixth full-length album “Dark Parade” which is set to be released on October 20th, 2023, via Metal Blade Records. The new album brings us to the utmost frontier of the fantasy world and elevates their sonic tome by achieving an epic piece of classic heavy metal. Resembling none but themselves, Cirith Ungol wields mighty power and glory to create a monumental display of lead guitar embellishments. And the soaring banshee vocals of Tim Baker, the galloping approach of the drums, the driving rhythm, and even the dynamic aggression demonstrate the weighty quality of the guitar work.
