The British underground death metal scene has remained dormant for many years, there’s definitely no doubt that U.K. metal scene in general has brought many great bands which have changed this genre to the best. Decades ago when Britain brought bands like Bolt Thrower, Carcass, Benediction, Napalm Death , Cancer, etc…. That bygone age was the beginning for something big and these bands have laid the foundations for the death metal genre. In general the British metal scene has also provided an underground realm with tons of talented bands which were distributed into different styles, and apart from heavy metal, and black metal the old school death metal bands took this sub-genre to a different level.

Perhaps this was the most glorious time line in the history of U.K extreme metal scene, and as we all know sometimes history repeats itself. The aggregate of the past events now seems to circulate in the last few years there happen to be some kind of activity from the younger bands who have shifted the dormant phase into a new beginning. The current bands or the leading bands in the British death metal scene have entered a new era of popularity.

But these bands have been possessing a unique sound when it comes to death metal, to name a few of them I’d begin with Grave Miasma, Cruciamentum, Memoriam, Goat Molestor, Vallenfyre, and finally Lvcifyre. Lvcifyre plays an obscure form of death/black metal, this band was formed in 2007 and has released two studio albums and two EP’s. Their newest EP was released on the 24^th of May via Dark Descent Records. Lvcifyre are one of the bands that rely on dark atmosphere, and brutal sound-structure. From the blasphemous inception of their debut album The Calling Depths and the sophomore Svn Eater, the band bounces back with five new tracks including a cover song of the Polish thrash/heavy metal band KAT.

Lvcifyre music can be describes as complex as they also infuse the black metal elements to their sound, making them sound close to Grave Miasma. Sacrament is the title of the band’s newest EP and it’s only 23 minutes long boosted with hellish cruelty of morbid kind of blackened death metal. The band seem to continue to stretch their musical integrity into an atmospheric level of disharmony, opening track is a sonic trance induced by deep brooding into the realms of death. The Greater Curse breaks the silence and with menacing guitar riffage and low guttural growls of T.Kaos, the track shifts into a full blasting riffage and ultra-blast beats. The harsh atmosphere is formed of congested layers, mainly from the frantic vocals which adds quality to the track.

The technical skills can also be detected in the guitar performance, the vocals provide a dual vocal performance from the deep growls and the black metal rasps. Deaths Head in Crown has the similar obscurity of the first track, where Lvcifyre shifts between the brutal sensuality. In many ways I find the EP a bit similar to the sophomore album, as the band embodies the same extreme elements, the members employ the fast and the slow pacing methods of the brutal and grimy blackened death metal.

The fourth track Sacrament is approached by the cruel and the explosive brutality which has some similarities to the band Nile. The tremendous boost of the infernal riffs and percussion are nicely employed and that’s due to the change of the tempo. Lycifyre depends on the grinding blast beats and the exuberant use of the dissonant riffs. The increase of crushing violence and flowing the dissonance forms of the blackened atmosphere where the band reaches to the extreme sonic climax. The final track “Morderca” is the cover song of the band KAT, Sacrament is an average effort I have enjoyed their sophomore album much more than the latest offering, this is a mediocre release by a band who has not harnessed its full capacity.
