‘Songs of Origin and Spirit’ brings together four artists from the Eisenwald family to reflect on these times of isolation: By The Spirits, Fellwarden, Mosaic and Osi and the Jupiter. Each of them brings four original compositions to this spiritual entmoot.

Arriving first on the scene, By the Spirits’ minimalist, droning compositions express feelings of loneliness and solitude. Sentiments that are not unfamiliar in these barren times. The songs are stripped of all redundancies, sparse notes stand alone with their own thoughts.

Fellwarden is perhaps equally melancholic, yet it engages to seeks to solace in the majesty of the nature surrounding us. It has a strangely uplifting effect to witness all this grandeur that nature has to offer.
Mosaic on its turn brings in a vocal aspects with unsettling spoken word passages and recited poems of old, brought in the language of Goethe.

My personal favourite is, of course, Osi and the Jupiter. After Sean Kratz’s excursion into the Appalachian mountains, these 4 new songs further explore his deeply spiritual bond to nature in his trademark plaintive form of acoustic Americana. ‘It Cuts Deep (and Both Ways)’, of which you’ll find a live rendition below, is in my humble opinion at least the highlight of this 4 way collaboration.
