Black Dreams is a Finnish band that describe themselves as a blues-driven heavy metal band with some gothic and doom metal influences. The band was formed in 2015, so they are relatively new. They currently have three songs out on their Youtube account. They’re not the most revolutionary band I’ve ever heard, but in every beginning band there’s always room for improval. That doesn’t mean that I can’t review their latest song, Soul Stealer, which was released last September.
I like the song, I really do. With this kind of title it wasn’t what I expected at all. I expected melodic black metal, like Insomnium or something similar. I think it’s more hard rock, but hey, I’m not judging. I really liked the music and think everything fits really good together. But I’m not really impressed with the vocals. They’re not bad, just a bit monotone. I think that there were a lot more possibilities to be more creative with them. Then again, I really liked the lyrics and the concept of their music video as well. Overall, not bad at all, but I’ve seen better stuff happen lately. However, I do look forward to their next release, I’ll be sure to keep an eye out for that!
