Surgent drop their new music video and single ‘Demon Eyes’

Estonia’s SURGENT drop their new music video “Demon Eyes”, taking a bold step away from the band’s usual death metal sound, drawing in influences from grunge, stoner, and even blues, all held together with massive sludge-like riffs.

Guitarist Jaan Varts describes the track as a homage to the rich history of music’s fascination with the diabolical:

“The legendary tale of Robert Johnson selling his soul at the crossroads has left an indelible mark on blues and, by extension, heavy music. This same spirit of bargaining with the devil echoes through history, from Goethe’s Faust to Paganini’s unparalleled virtuosity, rumoured to be the result of a similar pact. ‘Demon Eyes’ carries this tradition forward, where the temptation to sacrifice one’s soul for success is as relevant as ever.”

The track also features Laur Lindmäe (Pridian, Goresoerd), whose eerie vocal elements bring a unique and otherworldly dimension to the song.

Surgent has carved out a unique place in the metal scene with their intricate compositions and a willingness to explore beyond the traditional confines of death metal. Their 2022 self-titled debut album earned the Estonian Music Award for Best Metal Album, showcasing the band’s mastery of polyrhythms, unorthodox harmonies, and dynamic arrangements. This latest full production video marks a significant milestone in Surgent’s evolving sound that is sure to captivate both longtime fans and new listeners alike.
